Our Story
We’ve been supplying fresh fruit and vegetables to customers throughout London and the surrounding area for over 100 years.
We started out as RA Prescott, working in the famous, historic Old Spitalfields Market in the heart of the City of London, with a mission to show Londoners why choosing quality fruit and veg is always worthwhile.
We soon gained a reputation for high quality and attentive service. Through careful forward planning, we were able to keep bringing new clients on board and steadily expanding our operations while keeping every customer happy, no matter how large or complex their needs.
Today, we’re based at our climate-controlled warehouse at the New Spitalfields Market with close ties to the New Covent Garden Market and local farmers. We serve a wide range of clients, from small companies through to major organisations, including many leading restaurants, hotels, schools, hospitals and catering firms.
As well as expanding our product range over the years, we’ve also enhanced our service offering, supporting our clients with advice and information on seasonal produce, menu planning, nutrition and managing costs.

Meet the team
Our experienced, professional team work around the clock to help with everything you need, from placing and managing orders through to advice on nutrition and meal-planning.

We’re proud to be a traditional family firm, and our MD, Peter Thomas and his daughter, Vikki, keep that spirit alive at the heart of our team.
Peter Thomas
Managing Director
Peter has been in the fruit and vegetable industry since the age of 15, when he started off as a young and enthusiastic greengrocer delivering potatoes to London fish and chip shops alongside his father Jimmy.
Before long, Peter was pursuing his lifelong ambition to set up a wholesale catering business, supplying prestigious restaurants, clubs, hotels, private hospitals and schools.
In 2000, Peter’s firm took a great leap forward with the takeover of the historic firm of R.A. Prescott, forming Prescott-Thomas.
Peter puts his success down to first-class service, top-quality produce and always being willing to go the extra mile – with help from the staff and managers of Prescott-Thomas, of course.
Today, he’s proud to see the family tradition continuing as all three of his children have joined the family firm, showing the same passion that he did as a young entrepreneur.
Kim Chapman
Office Manager
Kim joined R.A. Prescott in 1998 as a credit controller, having previously spent nine years a major pharmaceutical firm. She also has experience in administration, customer service, accounts and IT.
When R.A. Prescott was acquired by Peter Thomas, Kim stayed with the company, and after three years progressed to office manager. In her new role, she contributed a wealth of new ideas and oversaw far-reaching changes to ensure Prescott-Thomas remained at the forefront of the fruit and veg sector.
Kim is passionate about providing high-quality service to all our customers, and makes sure all her staff are trained to deliver excellent customer care and accurate order handling.
In her free time Kim likes reading and visiting historic towns and cities.
Vikki Thomas
Company Representative
Vikki has 15 years’ experience in customer care as a sales representative for several firms and as Sales Manager in the world-famous Selfridges department store.
Vikki joined her dad Peter at Prescott-Thomas as part of the telesales team in 2007 before becoming Credit Controller. Her enthusiasm and passion soon took her into customer relations, and she now looks after our clients, making sure all their requirements are met. She particularly enjoys visiting customers, dealing with their queries and keeping up with market developments.
George Hutton
Head of Procurement
George studied history at university and trained to be a teacher before deciding on a new direction. He joined Prescott-Thomas in 2014 and never looked back.
While most of George’s time has been spent in procurement, he has also worked alongside several other departments of the firm, giving him a deeper understanding of how our business works and the importance of meeting every customer’s needs.
George is passionate about fresh produce and relishes the daily challenge of procuring such a wide selection of products every day. For him, no two days are ever the same.
Outside work, George enjoys reading and sport.
Tony Gill
Warehouse Manager
A long-serving and highly valued member of our team, Tony takes charge of our warehouse, managing inbound deliveries and ensuring every customer order is despatched accurately and on time.
Lorraine Wager
Office Supervisor
Lorraine has been in the market industry for 32 years, having started out in the Old Spitalfields Market in Liverpool Street. She has worked for Prescott-Thomas since September 1993, first in telesales and later in purchasing.
Lorraine’s longstanding commitment and dedication to the company have played a key part in our success.
Outside work, she enjoys theatre and eating out.

Our charity work
We actively support charity events like Curry Lunch and The Lord’s Mayor show. Prescott-Thomas also donates to organisations such as Soldiers’ Charity and Action Against Hunger and supports the Worshipful Company of Fruiterers, known for its long-standing support of the City of London and the fruit industry.
